Finders keepers, losers weepers. Or so the saying goes. But in this case, it's finders keep-it all for themselves! In a shameless display of self-interest and greed, Singh Saab the Great rips off unwitting members of his community in a diabolical plot to steal a vast fortune that rightfully belongs to an old woman in the slums. For one last prize, he decides he will have her house as well. With no regard for others lives or welfare Singh Saab takes advantage of every opportunity to get what he wants and shows that there are no limits to his ambition. But his plan backfires when he not only loses all the money, but lands up in jail as well. How does he recover from this setback? Will he ever manage to steal the old woman's house? Where are the limits of his ambition? What is his next move? And what are the consequences of that move? After successful attempts at making comedy films with an ensemble cast like "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" (2011) and "Golmaal 3" (2012), director Rohit Dhawan wanted to make a film with a single actor, for which Ajay Devgn was first approached. But he declined the offer, saying that he had no time to make a film which had an ensemble cast. He suggested Mohit Suri instead. Suri confirmed he would be interested in starring in the film, but preferred doing it as a lead role. Rohit Dhawan then approached Varun Dhawan who also agreed to play the protagonist role of Singh Saab the Great, but after getting his character sketched out, he declined it as well. Rohit Dhawan then approached Neil Nitin Mukesh, who accepted it immediately and was signed on to play the antagonist Shahid Ali Khan. Saif Ali Khan then accepted to be the lead actor. Filming of the film started in December 2012. Initially, the production of the film was delayed due to a need for a longer schedule. It also took a long time to get a single-screen theatre for pre-release shows of the film in Delhi and Ghaziabad, due to which there were protests from trade unions and moviegoers against the delay in release. In any case, after an extended schedule of more than 20 days, filming was completed on 24 January 2013. The song "O Saathi" is based on "O Varunga" from Kapi Raja (1925). The film was shot in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon. The songs were choreographed by Kunal Das, while the background score was composed by duo Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. "Singh Saab the Great" received generally positive reviews from critics. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said, "On the whole, "Singh Saab The Great" is a strong movie that offers quite a few laughs along with some powerful performances by all the actors." Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN said that ""Singh Saab The Great" is all about making us laugh". cfa1e77820
